Deer Creek Watershed Alliance Rainscaping Cost-Share Program
and
MSD small grants program
before and after rain garden installation
Rainscaping is landscaping specifically designed to sustainably manage stormwater as close as possible to where it falls, reducing runoff that contributes to water pollution, health challenges, and property damage. Rainscaping also adds aesthetic appeal to your landscape, and can attract birds and butterflies, raise property value, and address issues such as wet areas and erosion.
Rainscaping uses any combination of plantings (including lawn alternatives), water features, catch basins, permeable pavement, and other activities. Depending on your specific needs, your rainscape may employ rain gardens and bioswales, along with a diverse planting area including trees, shrubs, perennials, mulch and amended soils, to reuse rainwater before it becomes runoff.
